Based on our research, the Gabaldon building at Samar National School (SNS) is part of the broader national effort to construct Gabaldon schoolhouses during the American colonial period. These buildings were erected to support the Philippine public education system, and SNS was one of the institutions that benefited from this program.

1. Establishment of Samar National School

Based on our research, Samar National School, like many schools established during the early 20th century, received one of the Gabaldon buildings. It was originally a primary educational institution but evolved over time into a significant center for education in the region, especially in Catbalogan, Samar.

The school, founded in the early 1900s, benefitted from the Gabaldon Act (Act No. 1801), which funded the construction of durable, well-ventilated, and flood-resistant school buildings.

2. The Gabaldon Building at SNS

The Gabaldon building at Samar National School reflects the typical architectural design of the Gabaldon structures, incorporating features ideal for the tropical climate such as elevated floors, wide windows, and spacious rooms. This architectural style made education more conducive for the students by providing natural light and ventilation.
